Adrian manages the Artemis Income Fund, which he took over when he joined the firm in January 2002, and several institutional income mandates. After graduating from Jesus College, Cambridge, Adrian began his career at Deutsche Asset Management (Morgan Grenfell) in 1983. He was appointed a director there in 1990 and head of UK equities in 1996. Until July 2015, Adrian also managed the Artemis High Income Fund.

Adrian Paterson

Adrian manages Artemis Alpha Trust plc alongside John Dodd. After graduating from Durham in 1990 with a degree in economics and politics, he spent a year stockbroking in Paris. In 1993, Adrian joined Jupiter Asset Management as a fund manager, later becoming a director. He joined Artemis in September 2002 and managed the Artemis UK Growth Fund until June 2009.

After graduating from Durham, Alex began his career running global funds at Rothschild Asset Management. Alex runs the Artemis Strategic Bond Fund alongside James Foster and is the manager of the Artemis High Income Fund. She graduated in 2000 from the London School of Economics and joined Royal Sun Alliance, as a credit analyst. In 2002, Alex moved into managing retail bond funds with ISIS, initially specialising in the high-yield market but later adding duration and investment-grade positioning. Alex joined Artemis in April 2005 and is a CFA charterholder.

Ambrose works with Ed Legget managing the Artemis UK Select Fund. He graduated from Oxford in 2005 with a masters in chemistry and joined the research department at Odey Asset Management. As an equity analyst, he focused first on banks, diversified financials, property and housebuilders, then on software and IT services. Ambrose moved to Artemis in 2013 and is a CFA charterholder.

Andy works alongside Derek Stuart managing the Artemis UK Special Situations Fund. He also manages the Artemis VCT. After graduating from Loughborough with a degree in banking and finance, Andy trained as an accountant at Deloitte & Touche. In 1998 he became an assistant fund manager at Murray Johnstone. He then spent three years at Legg Mason as a manager of UK small-cap funds, before joining SWIP as an investment director. Andy moved to Artemis in 2006.

He joined Threadneedle’s US team in 2012, covering technology before switching to the industrial sector. Chris moved to Artemis in 2014.

Cormac is head of the US team and has managed the Artemis US Equity, US Select and US Smaller Companies Funds since launch. He studied accounting and finance at Dublin City University, graduating in 1987 and joining KPMG. After moving to Provident Mutual where he was a US equity analyst, Cormac spent two years as a fund manager for the British Gas Pension Fund. He joined Threadneedle in 1997, later becoming head of the North America team and the lead manager of three of its US funds. He moved to Artemis in 2014.

Derek manages the Artemis UK Special Situations Fund, which he launched in March 2000, and segregated accounts alongside Andy Gray. He trained in fund management at Ivory & Sime and was promoted in 1992 to run UK equity income portfolios. Derek co-founded Artemis in 1997.

She has a degree in information systems and management from the University of London and is studying for a masters in sustainability at Cambridge. Inez has more than 25 years’ experience in investment management and holds the advanced certificate in corporate governance from the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. She joined Artemis in 2005.

Jacob has managed the Artemis Global Income Fund since launch in July 2010 and the Artemis Global Equity Income Fund since launch in June 2015. He has also managed, with James Foster, the Artemis Monthly Distribution Fund since its launch in May 2012. Having joined Artemis in 2005, he managed the Artemis Capital Fund from January 2006 until June 2010. Jacob began his career in 1998 at BankInvest, one of Scandinavia’s largest independent fund managers. In 2002 he joined Merrill Lynch as vice-president of pan-European equity strategy. Jacob holds a BA and an MSc in economics from the University of Copenhagen; and an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University (NYU). He is a member of Artemis’ executive committee.

James has managed the Artemis Strategic Bond Fund with Alex Ralph since launch in June 2005. He has also run the Artemis Monthly Distribution Fund with Jacob de Tusch-Lec since its launch in May 2012. James has 20 years' experience of managing bond funds and was one of the first to establish a retail bond fund in the UK. He joined Artemis in April 2005 from F&C Asset Management where he was the head of credit, ultimately responsible for about £15 billion of assets.

    Mark has managed the Artemis UK Smaller Companies Fund since joining the firm in 2007. His investment career began in 1985 with Legal & General, which was followed by a stint as a private client fund manager at Greig Middleton & Co. In 1992, he joined Perpetual covering the UK part of its Global Smaller Companies Fund; the UK Smaller Companies Core Fund and the Invesco Perpetual UK Smaller Companies Investment Trust. Then Mark moved to Standard Life Investments as a small/mid-cap fund manager, running its UK Opportunity Fund from launch in November 2002 and its in-house small-cap pension funds.

    Mark joined Artemis in 2011 to launch and manage the Artemis European Opportunities Fund. He came from LV= Asset Management where he was head of European equities from 2001. That followed a career at Schroders which Mark joined in 1990 as a fund manager. When he left, Mark was a director of Schroders Investment Management International and deputy head of one of its global equity teams.

Mark managed the Artemis UK Growth Fund from its launch in April 1998 until 2002, and the Artemis Capital Fund from September 2002 until March 2009.

    Paul has managed the Artemis Pan-European Absolute Return Fund since launch in July 2014. After graduating in accounting from Queen’s University, Belfast in 1995, he worked as an auditor for KPMG. In 1997, he joined Martin Currie as a trainee fund manager, moving to SVM Asset Management four years later. There he was lead manager on its continental and pan-European mandates, and assistant manager of a long-short, pan-European equity fund. In 2005, he joined Henderson Global Investors as director of pan-European equities. Paul joined Artemis in April 2013.

    Peter has managed the Artemis Global Growth Fund since January 2004 and co-managed the Artemis Global Emerging Markets Fund since its launch in April 2015. He joined Artemis in December 2002 from Merrill Lynch, where he worked as an equity strategist from 1999. Peter holds a BA in mathematics & philosophy from the University of Oxford, an MA in economics from Freiburg University and a PhD in economics from Hamburg University. He is a CFA charterholder, a partner in Artemis, chief investment officer and a member of the executive committee.

    Philip is a partner, a member of the management committee and the creator of an investment process (SmartGARP™) which Artemis uses to help choose stocks for five of its funds. He has managed the Artemis European Growth Fund since its launch in March 2001 and the Artemis Capital Fund since July 2010. He joined Artemis in February 2001 from Merrill Lynch, where he was head of pan-European equity strategy. He holds a BA and an MA in economics.

    Raheel has managed the Artemis Global Emerging Markets Fund with Peter Saacke since launch in April 2015. A Cambridge graduate in electrical engineering, he joined Fidelity International in 2002 as a quantitative analyst. In 2007 he was promoted to portfolio manager for a range of funds which grew to $2.5 billion. He moved to Fulcrum Asset Management in 2011. In 2014 Raheel joined Artemis to help Philip Wolstencroft and Peter manage the SmartGARP® funds and institutional mandates.

    Richard manages the Artemis Global Energy Fund alongside John Dodd. With an MSc in petroleum engineering from Imperial College, he worked for Exxon and Enterprise Oil, then in 1997 became an oil analyst at Henderson Crosthwaite. He went on to Ernst & Young to work in energy corporate finance, before a period at the specialist investment bank Simmons & Co. Then Richard set up Hulf Hamilton, an independent oil & gas consultancy which provided research to Artemis and others. He joined Artemis in June 2011.

    Rosanna manages the Artemis Global Select Fund and Mid Wynd International Investment Trust with Simon Edelsten and Alex Illingworth. After graduating in economics from Bocconi University in 1996, she joined Paribas Asset Management as a junior fund manager. In 2000, she moved to M&G as a fund manager and director responsible for pan-European equity portfolios. As a senior European portfolio manager at Shell Pension Management Service from 2004, she controlled £710m of assets. Then, in 2006, Rosanna became a partner and pan-European fund manager for FrontPoint Management (UK). She came to Artemis in 2011.

After graduating from Trinity College, Oxford, he joined Phillips & Drew in 1985 and moved to Dresdner Kleinwort Benson in 1997 as head of European equity sales. From there he went to Taube Hodson Stonex (THS) in 2001: in a five-man team, Simon had joint responsibility for global equities. He joined Artemis in 2011.

    Stephanie is an investment director, concentrating on Artemis’ US equity franchise. She joined Artemis from Fidelity in September 2016 and has over 20 years’ investment experience. She graduated from the Institut Commercial de Nancy in 1995. After that Stephanie held various roles as an equity analyst, fund manager and product manager at Société Générale, F&C and Lehman Brothers. She then worked as a consultant at Ernst & Young, advising asset managers, before joining Fidelity in 2008.

    Stephen has managed Artemis’ US Extended Alpha and US Absolute Return Funds since launch. He holds a BComm and BA from the University of Queensland and is an associate of the Securities Institute of Australia. Stephen began his career at First State in 1997 and moved to Threadneedle’s US team in 2002. He launched the Threadneedle American Extended Alpha Fund in 2007, became lead manager on the US hedge fund in 2008 and launched the Threadneedle American Absolute Alpha Fund in 2010. Stephen joined Artemis in 2014.

    William manages the Artemis Strategic Assets Fund which he launched in 2009. After graduating from Bristol University with a degree in economics, he worked at Jupiter Asset Management from 1989 to 1999. William joined Artemis in December 2005 to launch the Absolute Return Hedge Fund.

He graduated from Oxford in 2006 with a degree in economics and management and joined Citigroup as an equity research analyst in the UK small- and mid-cap team. William moved to Liberum in 2009, where he continued to work in small- and mid-cap equity research, specialising in support services. A CFA charterholder, William joined Artemis in 2015.

    William is a member of the US equities team and joined Artemis in 2014. After graduating from Michigan State University with a degree in finance, he began his career as an analyst at JP Morgan. He then spent nine years at Lehman Brothers, where he was a senior portfolio manager and specialised in global technology stocks. He also covered technology after joining Threadneedle’s US equity team and from 2008 to 2011 served as the company’s global technology sector head. Between 2008 and 2014, William was the co-manager of Threadneedle’s American Extended Alpha and American Absolute Alpha funds.
